Electrostatic applications are an industrial form of wet-coat painting where a high quality fine sprayed finish is desired and conventional spraying is not practical.
In the electrostatic process the paint is delivered to the gun's nozzle by airless or air assisted pressure and the paint is atomized and charged to a high voltage as it exits the gun. The paint particles are then attracted to the grounded substrate eliminating overspray and paint mist.
One of the most outstanding advantages in electrostatic application is that many items can be coated without taking them out of service (such as file cabinets, grocery freezers etc.), and they need not be emptied for painting. All items and merchandise are protected during the painting process.
